ARTICLE – Christchurch Quay October 2023
Sunday 8th October was the last ‘Classics on the Quay’ car show in Christchurch for this year. The forecast looked good so we were thinking of going along to do a bit of PR while enjoying some interesting cars. Got up, the sun was shining so that was decided, we’re going.
After packing some supplies for the day, it always looks like I’m going for a week, flask of tea, few tools just in case and the obligatory drip tray. I met up with Alex and Marie on the way, so we had my MK2 Escort, Alex’s MK2 and his MK2 Transit. It was quite a brightly coloured convey we had and got us some attention.
By the time we got there it was filling up nicely with people and vehicles. Having parked up, displayed the BDCC signs and leaflets, it was time for a brew. Throughout the day several people chatted about the club and took leaflets. Many were amazed that you can attend a slalom in an everyday road car and have a great day of motorsport for £50!
It is always a very relaxed day at Christchurch Quay, with the town, Abbey and river to wander around when you get bored with the cars. There is also a great kids play area, coffee shops and an ice cream van. Not a bad day out and a good bit of PR.
Give it a go next year and come over and say hi.
